Getting this out of the way because, Richard 3/4 was/is a pain in the ass )=0\. You can tell no motivation was put into this battle and the last[Richard] one; it got to the point were I just didn't care.
In order for me to do anything, I need some distance, but Richard moves so fast, I can't really do anything. Not anything new from a boss, but when he's running towards me, he can auto-guard my attacks on the EXACT FRAMES it hits, and continues running towards me after that, eventually reaching me. His claw swipes aren't practical to dodge because its so fast, you can't tell which dodge to use(backstep or sidestep). He can also use Tempest at that distance, which gets me a instant game over if it hits, guarded or not(he's invincible during it as well). Phantom Dragon Dance is not dodgeable and tends to break my guard, giving me game over; backstepping it causes the floaty glitch. Spell cancelling to dodge cryas artes isn't possible. Attempts to go through with Flux Form cause game over if Richard happens to use Tempest. Fearful Storm ⇨ PDD causes game over(got lucky here because 1st/3rd time EVA kicked in, 2nd time I got EB)
General strategy is to play keep away, and I do that decently well, despite his speed. If he's far away, I use Wind Needle. If he gets too close, a pre-emptive Pyro Ring will slightly push him away. Spread just doesn't work here, since he gets Iron Stance before reaching Spread's range, but I use it anyway(could spell cancel into a backstep so he'll hopefully run into it).
Anyway, can't say I enjoyed this battle. The final battle awaits....
