In Metal Gear for the NES, there's a very simple way to manipulate the position of certain bosses such as the Tank and the Bulldozer, and I want to explain this very easy trick.

During the battle against the Tank or the Bulldozer, if you open up your Weapons Menu (or really any sub-menu) and then exit that menu and return to the battle, you'll notice that the position of the enemy will be reset, as if you had just entered the room.

However, any damage inflicted upon that enemy will be retained after position is reset, so using this glitch, you can quickly and safely defeat both the Tank and the Bulldozer bosses.

So when the Tank fight starts, run up in front of him and place numerous landmines. When the mines detonate, open up your weapons menu, exit the menu, and the Tank will be back at the top of the screen, so you can place more mines directly in front of him, then back off slightly. Repeat the last steps a few times and the Tank will explode.

For the Bulldozer (sometimes called the Bull-Tank), you can usually defeat this boss within one cycle using your grenade launcher. But if the Bulldozer gets too close for comfort, simply open up your weapons menu, exit the menu, and continue chucking grenades at him. Since this trick does not cause the enemy's health to regenerate, the Bulldozer should only take one or two more grenades to defeat at this point.
