TAS test - Nancy Drew - Message in a Haunted Mansion (GBA)
I've wanted to TAS a storybook game for a while. This game is a decent candidate, with some exploits to gain time with and TAS-relevant cursor movement planning for example. This Work-In-Progress is up until the end of the first Chapter.
The routes Nancy take may look strange, and that's because I use a trick to sometimes skip screen transitions. For example, while entering a room in which you can turn, you can press A+L to enter the room and turn on the same transition. Also, at some places counterintuitive routes are actually the fastest ones, like going in and out of the Saloon. For entering the Saloon, Nancy steps forward once while turning 180 degrees around before turning left and stepping in, while a normal person would... just step forward twice. She's a bit eccentric, but I guess it works for her.
At the end, second chapter is ready to begin with chisel in hand (necessary to open up the bedpost).
