Cowabunga! Peps are getting their first look at the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer, and the reviews are in! The highly anticipated live-action turtle flick produced by Michael Bay will hit theaters this summer after a more than 20 year, big screen hiatus. And while we are expected to get our first look at the new TMNT trailer later on this week, there were a few lucky folks who got to catch a sneak peak at this year's CinemaCon in Las Vegas. And While the trailer was fairly short, it was long enough for fans of the film to see there have been some major changes in plot lines and the all around tone of the film. And there were mixed reviews. The trailer apparently opens with a voice over of TMNT master villain, Shedder (who is played by William Fichtner) and he's talking about how the city's been overrun with "crime, violence and fear," and that the need for heroes is imminent and we all know that there are only four pizza loving reptiles for the job. For better or worse, Megan Fox will fill the nosy reporting shoes of April O'Neil, as local Channel 6 anchor and BFF to our heroes. And while there have been mixed reviews on Fox's performance that range from awful to just plain bad, for the studio's sake we are hoping that her flawless features and tight pants will be enough to lure fanboys into buying movie tickets. While we're used to seeing our fearsome foursome in a more fun loving and goofy way, the trailer apparently portrays the turtles in a more serious and more darker tone. One editor at IGN said quote "The Turtles make a few wisecracks but those quips are kind of lost amidst the action." Well, at least we have lots of action to look forward to, right? Wishful thinking? And just as we had anticipated from previous set photos, the turtles are HUGE, coming in at over 6 feet tall, which is another MAJOR change from previous flicks. However one change that's got all the TMNT fans out there talking is the turtle's origin story. According to sources, it's revealed in the trailer that Shedder and April O'Neil 's father are responsible for creating Michaelangelo and the gang which veers way off from the original origin story in which the turtles were mutated by toxic waste. We aren't sure why Bay and director Jonathan Liebsman decided to make that big modification to the storyline but maybe that will have more answers once the full length trailer comes out later this week and if not, I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens for sure when the TMNT movie hits theaters August 8th.
