Tetris was first released in the arcades in 1984, and it was a very popular game at the time. It had great replay value, and you can never really get bored of it. Every time you play this game, it is different.

The Gameboy came with Tetris in 1989 and that version is what got me interested in Tetris. I played the game for hours on the Gameboy, I played it when I was waiting at the bus stop, I played it when I was waiting for my parents to pick me up from school, and it was basically like how the smart phone is to young people now. Tetris was one of the very first puzzle type games, and it gave birth to many games of this type, like Columns, Bubble Bobble, and others.

The game is a timeless classic, and I believe Tetris was even available with Windows 95. I mean, it came with Windows 95, and it was one of the few Windows game you would never bored of, like Mine Sweeper which was also available for Windows 95.

I don't know if they make derivatives of Tetris on smart phones, but it would be a great game on a tablet or a smartphone.
