The 72 Hours That Created Hollow Knight
One of the most impressive things about Hollow Knight is that the two main developers who worked on the game, Ari Gibson and William Pellen, had no professional game development experience prior to creating this beloved Metroidvania.
Hollow Knight is the result of a game jam that William and Ari enjoyed so much, they decided to push forward with making their amateur hobby project into a fully fledged indie darling.
They had help along the way - David Kazi joined the project as a programmer later on, and Christopher Larkin created the game's soundtrack - but the initial spark for Hollow Knight came from two inexperienced developers who wanted to try something different for fun.
The lesson for us is that we can all create something, no matter what we might need to learn along the way. You might not make the next Hollow Knight, but you can certainly try your best at learning a new talent and creating something you can be proud of.
