Recently, we spent five hours in the middle of the night exploring some of the many tunnels at the Tropico Mine. In the first tunnel, we found a snake holed up in a drill hole. The other tunnels also had their surprises including a section of maze-like tunnels going in several different directions. We also found cryptic messages painted on the walls warning us to "go back" because of "danger." It was a long night of hiking and exploration, but we got to see a nice portion of the tunnels at the Tropico Mine. We left at 5:30 AM as the sun was rising.
