What's up Survivalists! It'sCheif from TeamWnJ here with a walk animation tutorial for Minecraft Animations.

Please note that my walk animations change over time as I get better and better so check the comments to stay updated. Also note that even though I use Cinema4D, a lot of the theory from this video can be applied to Blender, Maya, or Mineimator.

This walk cycle tutorial is different to other "Minecraft Walk Cycle Tutorials" as I talk about why you shouldn't use a "Walk Cycle" but instead a "Walk Animation". I also go into great detail into how to move each part of the body and why.

The first part of this video talks about the difference between Walk Cycles and Walk animations.

I then go into moving the hips, the various positions in a walk, and how to calculate Stride lengths.

After that I talk about the arms and a common mistake Minecraft animators make by animating the hand instead of the arm.

And then I go over the body mechanics of a walk, specifically how our bodies rotate to throw our limbs forward.

Finally I go over offset by using the Dope Sheet in Cinema4D's animation mode and explain that not every part of our body moves at the same time during a walk.
