The TurbulenceFD Handbook - Everything you Need for Your First Simulation in 12 Minutes (Cinema4D)
TurbulenceFD is a basic fluid simulation plugin for Cinema4D developed by Jawset. You can download a free trial version from: https://www.jawset.com/
This video is divided into 5 parts:
00:43 - What is TurbulenceFD & What you can do
01:44 - How TurbulenceFD Works, the Workflow, and Hardware requirements
04:24 - Exploding wall scene walkthrough & Troubleshooting
08:36 - Render settings and setting up Multipass
10:30 - Final result and comments
This edutainment styled video aims to simplify TurbulenceFD for beginners and deliver everything you need for your first simulation in 12 minutes.
In the first part of the video, I explain that TurbulenceFD uses a 3D voxel based solver to simulate fluids in Cinema4D, whether that be fire, dust, steam, smoke, explosions, spreading fire, or burning fire. I also talk about the limitations of TurbulenceFD and how it is used only for basic simulations while other programs like Houdini would be used for more complicated ones.
The second part of the video is key to understanding TurbulenceFD, just by watching these 3 minutes, you should understand how to set up and create your first basic simulation already. Everything else that follows builds up on this. I also explain the TurbulenceFD workflow in Cinema4D briefly and touch on the hardware requirements to run TurbulenceFD smoothly.
In the third part of the video, I dissect every step I take on the way to making a crumbling wall in conjunction with Voronoi Fracture. I demonstrate that Voronoi and TurbulenceFD can be used with each other to achieve amazing results, like simulating dust and debris from the crumbling wall. This part of the video is the most advanced as I delve deep into all the settings and what they do/why I did it.
The fourth part of the video consists of me setting up my Render settings for standard Multipass render in the TurbulenceFD workflow, though I only mention briefly what you can do in After Effects using the various passes.
Finally, the fifth part of the video shows the final result and ping pongs the Raw export with one that's been composited and graded in After Effects and Da Vinci Resolve respectively.
