2DM Notes: Kolanian society was an interesting thought exercise for me. What would a culture be like if magic were real, provably real, and yet no one could use magic directly? What I figured was that their society would be full of superstitions and magic totems, some of which were true and some of which weren't, and the people would be largely unable to tell the difference. Also, while the vampire seems to be taunting and baiting the party just for fun, what he's really doing is analyzing their strengths and weaknesses while angering them so that they'll underestimate him. The final confrontation I was planning would be based entirely around what and how much he managed to learn.
