Searching for a good beat 'em up to kill (no pun intended) some time? Then, this is not what you should be looking for. This is probably one of the most standard and average beat 'em ups ever, with nothing memorable about it. The plot follows the events shortly before and after the death of Superman, which was probably the biggest event to ever happen in comic book history (preceding Batman getting crippled by months). If you're a fan of Superman, you'll recognize some events that happen during the course of the game, but they removed so much that it can't be enough to give you the satisfaction of playing that storyline. The attacks of your main man, the original Superman, aren't interesting, and it doesn't get much better with the other characters which you can't choose (you play as them at a pre-determined order). There are flying stages, probably having to do with the fact that Superman can fly (you can also fly to dodge attacks during standard levels, but to attack, you need to be on the ground, except for some flying enemies). The flying stages are like a horizontal scrolling shooter, but a boring one, you might as well play a real game of this type. The music is not so good, the graphics are not so good either, but they're acceptable. The boring gameplay is what really kills this game, combined with severe perspective issues, but for the masochist in you, this is also available on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. At least, it's playable, unlike most Superman games which are just awful. I can't understand why it's hard to make a good game about a character which is so powerful and with so many powers including flight (which is just cool). I think the problem is that nobody tried to seriously make a good game about him, and some who tried were just not the right people (such as Titus Software for Superman on the N64, a game that is really, really, completely awful unlike the one featured in this video).
