The End of LOTRO? Everything we know about "LOTRO 2"
218Amazon Games Studio just announced for the second time that they are working on a new MMORPG. The same studio that created New World will now be working on a new Lord of the Rings MMO after securing a deal again with Embracer Group who now owns the rights to the Lord of the Rings IP.
What does this mean for LOTRO, the current MMO using the Lord of the Rings IP under Standing Stone Games and Daybreak Games? Could that MMO go the way of SWG when SWTOR was launched? In that instance SWG closed 5 days before the launch of SWTOR.
We got some new exclusive details on the LOTR MMO from Amazon in an interview with IGN that explained a bit more than their announcement.
But hey, John Smedley is gone, does that bode well for keeping both Lord of the Rings MMOs around?
