The Initiative - The Red Solstice Review & Analysis
Review of The Red Solstice, a top-down, tactical, objective-based survival game, developed and published by Ironward. It is based of the WarCraft III Custom Map series "Night of the Dead". The game was initially released through Steam's Early Access and completed within a year.

During an exceptionally violent storm dubbed "The Red Solstice", the human colonies of Mars lost all contact with Tharsis, the colony referred to as "The Capital". Soldiers in service of the Elysium Corporation, elite marine troops, were sent to find out what happened to the colony. The gameplay is mostly team based strategic shooting, and has a variety of equipment and features, unlocked through promotions.
As a former WarCraft III map maker, as well as the creator of a similar series of maps called the "S3 Marine Corps", it greatly interests me when these custom maps make the leap from a mod to stand-alone game. But as a stand-alone game with underwhelming hype surrounding it, how will The Red Solstice perform in the video game market?
The Initiative is a review and analysis series on newly-released PC games. The series will show my first impressions of the gameplay and features at face value, and analyze its longevity in the market and community.
