The testing branch of The Long Dark Faithful Cartographer update allows us to preview what's coming up in the final early access sandbox update before the game launches as version 1.0 in August 2017.
The Long Dark Faithful Cartographer update adds a number of new and tweaked systems, balancing, bugfixes and a few world changes. There's no new regions or major surprises, but it does add a new mapping system.
The maps, like anything in the game, must be worked for, and in this video we see how you sketch maps using charcoal, including points of interest and the local landscape.
We also take a look at the new stone throwing mechanism, and how you can stun rabbits! We see how harvesting carcasses has been expanded to include quartering them. We see how throwing torches and flares has returned to the game. We discuss the (still buggy) changes to the animal struggle encounters. And more!
