In Under Night In-Birth, the GRD is a tug of war that plays during the rounds of combat. Each character owns six squares on the GRD, which they can attempt to fill by being aggressive.

Players gain GRD by walking forward, dashing, using the Assault, hitting with an attack, after the recovery, blocking, Shielding, and using the Concentration.

The winner of this mini tug of war gets a Vorpal or Chain Shift, which increases damage and meter gain.
