What Happens When VTubers Play Fighting Games?
Street Fighter 6 continues to defend its throne as the most popular fighting game in the world, and part of its success can be attributed to content creators outside of the FGC.
A huge example of this is Crazy Raccoon Cup, a series of tournaments where pro players like Daigo and Bonchan would teach content creators how to play Street Fighter 6, and then have them face off to see which team was better. The event, which featured Vtubers such as Hololive’s Korone and Nijisanji’s Kuzuha, was a huge hit, and many of the content creators actually continued to use the game afterwards.
To see just how much of an impact there has been, Japan’s World Warrior, the online circuit for the Capcom Pro Tour, had a whopping 2357 players entered for its first tournament of the season, making it the biggest online 1v1 tournament in the FGC. For comparison, the most entrants any other region has seen so far this season are the US-Canada East, with 396 players entered.
