The Outer Worlds - [Episode: 4] - Edgewater in Earnest
2Believe it or not, there is a lot to do in Edgewater before we head out into the Vale, lots of quests, conversations, and little things to check out.
It's very easy to get caught up in these things.

So this is "The Outer Worlds,” an excellent RPG created by Obsidian Entertainment and released in 2019 with a couple of DLC trailing a bit later, all of which have pretty decent reviews.
I believe this was Obsidian’s attempt to pull off some of the grip that Bethesda has over this first person roleplay market. I gotta say, I do think it's done so, but not really as much as they were hoping and you'll see why as we progress.
Typically I don't often do games that have been recently released for a number of reasons, mostly due to the amount of resources they hog and the stupid file sizes they generate. But I will say: The Outer Worlds hits a bit different. Plus it's nice to have something that I can just boot and record without doing 300 things so it doesn't crash (I'm looking at you, Arcanum).
Aside from being a solid RPG with an excellent story, it's also one of those rare games that makes companions not only viable but insanely optimal and fun to use. In fact, we got a decent build for this game that allows us to get adequate usage out of our companions, while also taking part of the game like normal!
It's easily one of my favorite RPGs too, I'd even say Top 10. I think you'll like the story in this.
But this game is also a classic example of Obsidian’s story telling starting off so damn strong, and then really falling apart towards the end; hopefully you'll see where I am coming from.
I hope you enjoy this playthrough! I'm having a lot of fun recording it and it's nice to not have something to mod to get it to behave on modern systems.

Both versions are identical from the looks of it, but do pick up the DLC too; the first one especially, as it not only raises the level cap to 150 with extra skills but the story is so interesting.
You can get it on Epic Store too, as it goes on sale there often but the various seasonal sales they do also includes a coupon so you can shave some more off the price.

I'm running a sort of Intelligence/Charm build that focuses on companions and skills like Tech and Dialog.
The idea is to get the best out of our followers while supporting them with science weapons and huge bonuses to their stats via equipment and large amount of levels in Leadership.
Don't worry, we also take part in combat; in fact, with our high science skill due to our Intelligence, it turns us into quite a power house with both Science Weapons and Plasma/Shock Weapons.
We become a sort of elite strike team and it's bloody awesome.
