Here we start another classic LucasArts adventure with the first Monkey Island game. Not much happens in this part as we learn from the pirate leaders that in order to become a pirate, we need to pass three trials.. swordplay, thievery, and treasure hunting.

While exploring the village, we find a guy selling a map to the treasure we need.. we also find a shop that has a shovel and a sword. We lack money, though, so we can't buy any of them.

We find Otis in jail, and after giving him a breath mint he says he was framed.. also something about a conspiracy. I dunno.

We leave the village to explore around the island, starting with the spot labeled 'clearing'.. and that's where we end for now.

While I don't mind the Special Edition of MI, I prefer the original pixel art. The art direction in the special edition made some odd choices in certain places that I find hard to over look when I play it. In other areas, it's brilliant.
Same for the music, really. ...As such, I chose to use the music found on the CD version of the game instead of the special edition music. I almost went with the MIDI tunes, but felt the voices fit better with CD music.

That said, it was a shame that you couldn't mix the old graphics with the added voices in the special edition. So.. here we are with this. They fixed that issue in the future with the MI2 special edition... but, we'll cross that bridge when we get there, since they broke other aspects.
