The Secret of Monkey Island - No Commentary - Part 02 [Moss-Covered Three-Handled Family Credenza]
Picking up where we left off, we earn some money by being a test dummy for the circus. From there, we visit a hermit with hooks for hands on his own island.. come across a troll at a bridge, who is very clearly trying to tell us he wants the 'red herring' in our inventory.. visit Stan's and the sword trainer.. then go back to town to buy all the stuff we couldn't before.
We follow the shopkeeper to the Sword Master.. making sure to pick some of those illegal yellow flowers along the way, then turn back around and make use of the dance steps to find the treasure. We go on to get some training now that we have a sword, then tell the pirate leaders of our progress before heading back to the governor's mansion.. we drug the meat with the flowers to get by the dogs, then go through a long cut-scene fight sequence that is largely off-screen with the sheriff.. a brief break in the action to deliver gopher repellant to Otis before returning to claim the idol..
We cut after meeting the governor herself and will pick up there next time.

I'm playing the game using ScummVM: https://www.scummvm.org/
Also using the Ultimate Talkie Edition.. found here: http://gratissaugen.de/ultimatetalkies/
The sidebars were added by me during editing of the video and are NOT present during gameplay
While I don't mind the Special Edition of MI, I prefer the original pixel art. The art direction in the special edition made some odd choices in certain places that I find hard to over look when I play it. In other areas, it's brilliant.
Same for the music, really. ...As such, I chose to use the music found on the CD version of the game instead of the special edition music. I almost went with the MIDI tunes, but felt the voices fit better with CD music.
That said, it was a shame that you couldn't mix the old graphics with the added voices in the special edition. So.. here we are with this. They fixed that issue in the future with the MI2 special edition... but, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
