We pick up right after meeting the governor, and run into the sheriff when we try to leave the mansion. He ties our stolen idol to our leg and dumps us in the.. lake? Ocean? Anyway, it's funny but I forgot how easy of a puzzle that is to solve. For some reason, I thought I had to pick up the sword and cut the rope.. but I knew I needed the idol, so I picked that up first. In hindsight, that does indeed make cutting the rope rather pointless.. but Guybrush picks up the sword on his way out of the water. Kinda makes the one we bought earlier from the shop a bit of a waste, but whatever.

From there we do some tedious grinding of the sword fights.. and don't worry, I cut all of that footage down except for the first fight so you can see how it goes. After that first one, the only stuff you see are the insults and responses. Then from there we take on the Sword Master. I get a couple of them wrong since she doesn't use the usual insults, but we win regardless.

Going back to the village, the governor gets kidnapped by LeChuck. We decide to undertake the mission of rescuing her, but first we need to get a crew together... and a ship.
We let Otis out of jail on his word that he'll join our crew, but he just up and leaves calling us a sucker.. the Sword Master says she'll help us.. and Meathook says he'll help too after we pass his trial of courage. So all that's left is buying a ship, but we lack the funds..

We'll figure that out next time.

While I don't mind the Special Edition of MI, I prefer the original pixel art. The art direction in the special edition made some odd choices in certain places that I find hard to over look when I play it. In other areas, it's brilliant.
Same for the music, really. ...As such, I chose to use the music found on the CD version of the game instead of the special edition music. I almost went with the MIDI tunes, but felt the voices fit better with CD music.

That said, it was a shame that you couldn't mix the old graphics with the added voices in the special edition. So.. here we are with this. They fixed that issue in the future with the MI2 special edition... but, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
