The Story of Ripped: Remake - Revisited
I knew I was going to return to this game sooner or later, and since I seem to be doing games in reverse order, I thought I'd carry on the trend and start with this remake before going on to the original version. I never knew a remake for The Story of Ripped was ever developed, and considering that fan game was one of my most played years ago, I had to play this remake. And so, here's the official remake, to The Story of Ripped.
Before we begin, I have to preface this video by saying that none of these videos are new content. Long story short, struggling with nights and losing an hour of footage made me decide that I was to combine the previous videos into one (as I somehow still had the files), and then upload this. So this should explain why:
1. This video is late
2. There's black bars on the side (my editing software didn't let me film in the game's resolution)
This game is similar to that of the original The Story of Ripped, with a few changes. I'll go more into the history of this series when I revisit the original, but there is quite a lot to talk about regarding this remake. The map is relatively the same, with no new rooms, but so many more vents, with new vents now leading directly to the office rather than just the backroom. The characters are pretty similar with similar mechanics, with the addition of Fredtoy and Springtoy who are completely new. Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy are the exact same but can enter the office via the vents. Golden Freddy and the Puppet act pretty similar, but are Custom Night characters only. These characters had some basic but necessary mechanics, so I'm not complaining. Ripped and Dismantled have been completely reworked, having their own night and not appearing until their own night, which completely changes the gameplay. The characters are all disabled minus Ripped and Dismantled, with the room completely darl. Before, Dismantled attacked via the backdoor, and Ripped could attack via the backdoor and hallway. Now, however, Dismantled runs around the vents, and Ripped has an entirely new mechanic where he'll enter the dark room, and we'll have to find and shine our flashlight to send him away. I love boss-nights, and given that Ripped and Dismantled are essentially the first animatronics, they deserve their own night.
The mechanics also remain relatively similar too - with the backdoor, system reboots and flashlight all returning. This time though, we have to worry about closing vents, more possible system errors, and the SpringToy animatronic disabling a crucial system. However, the Music Box has been removed from regular gameplay and has been made a Custom Night exclusive, which I think is for the best. The last few nights get so hard, and an added Music Box would make things much harder.
The graphics, characters, and overall models have all been updated since the last game, and it makes the place feel a lot scarier than before. Ripped's new model is probably my favourite - he looks pretty creepy, which is only amplified when he's shrouded in darkness. The minigames are also a huge step up from the original game, and tell a pretty depressing story. I also love the little 6am animation - it's a nice little thing to add rather than just having a screen saying 6am.
Overall, I had a really good time with this remake. After playing the original, and seeing the changes made be used to craft a better experience was so cool. This game is what the original TSoR needed - a facelift with new models, and a couple new mechanics. The Story of Ripped is kinda like Five Decaying Nights - pretty forgotten by the wider FNaF community, with barely anyone playing or knowing about this title. I doubt my video will really change much, but I do recommend checking out this remake, and if you do want to experience the game that originally released, then you also can.
I'll be returning to Ripped soon, but I've had a few requests to check out a few new fangames for the channel, so that's the plan for now. They'll be long-form videos just like the Revisited series - I don't want to return to the old "X IS SO CREEPY!! | Five Nights at Fuck Knows" videos. I much prefer these longer videos, - there's only so many times those videos can be done before it gets boring and repetitive to both create and get recommended - which is exactly why I stopped them after The Return To Freddy's 3: Bonum Iterum about 6 months ago. I've never explained why I changed the style of my content, but I think that now's the best time to explain why as I'll be doing less revisiting, and more searching for new games. But that explanation aside, I do hope you enjoyed this video, and again, apologies for it being so late.
