One Night at Flumpty's 3 - Revisited
So, here's a game that I've had saved for a bit now, and have been debating as to whether I wanted to revisit this series given that the series has become more infamous given that the creator was exposed for some horrific shit, but I decided to revisit it anyway, given that it is:
1. A classic series
2. Part of the Fanverse (I think?)
3. ONaF 1 was the first game I played on this channel
So, with that, here is the final instalment of One Night at Flumpty's.
This game, funnily enough, is the longest instalment in the franchise - being a whopping three nights long, bringing back classic mechanics, every previous character (in some way), and featuring the similar artstyle and feel as the previous 2 games. The first night has a dark hallway in front of you that Blam, Grunkfass, and Eyesaur attack from (needing to use the camera for Blam and Eyesaur, and not using it for Grunkfass), a vent to the right that the Beavowl (the Beaver and Owl hybrid) attacks from, and a furnace to the left which requires you to go up to it to warm up as we are in an igloo, but we can't always stay there as the Redman can go to the furnace. Golden Flumpty is also in the first night - just don't lower the camera if he's on the camera, otherwise you're screwed. The characters all work well together, and all are quite lenient and allow time to deal with others who attack quicker than others. It does require attention though, as Golden Flumpty can screw up a run so quickly if you close the camera when he's on it. There aren't many mechanics in this night, but it doesn't need many, as it's meant to get you prepared for the next night. Blam, Eyesaur, and Beavowl require the camera flash to send them back - a simple mechanic, but is harder with limited uses. The last few characters Redman, Grunkfass, and Golden Flumpty require being left alone, which is made harder given you need the furnace a lot, and simple mistakes can ruin everything.
As you may have noticed, Flumpty was missing from the main night - as he has his own night in store. In Flumpty night, he takes the role of everyone (minus Grunkfass), introducing some new mechanics along with it - with every character being a form of Flumpty:
1. Flumpty 1 acts exactly like Blam
2. Flumpty 2 acts exactly like Redman
3. Flumpty 3 (Spider Flumpty) acts exactly like the Beavowl
4. Flumpty 4 uses the two new hallways at either side of the office - close the door to keep him away. The rooms can swap, so be sure to keep an eye on that.
5. Flumpty 5 brings back the Exposure meter from ONaF 2 - flash him when he enters.
6. Flumpty 6 utilises a mechanic from the scrapped One Week at Flumpty's, with us having to use in-camera lasers to keep him away from the Door Power switch (with Door Power returning from ONaF 1).
7. Flumpty 7 (Shadow Flumpty) works like Golden Flumpty. He's the easiest to deal with, so I don't know what happens if he gets up close.
Right, so, 7 Flumptys in one night - that's a lot. It makes sense to have this though - it's a final boss of sorts using the character that started it all. This night is intense - the 4am music not helping but being an absolute banger to jam out to (if I wasn't fighting for my survival). Limited camera uses and temperature are still in play too, and the added door power, in-camera lasers, and exposure meter ontop of that makes things so hard. I love this night though - boss fight nights are so fun to enjoy. JR's Night 6 is the best example in my opinion, but this one is definitely up there too. This night is very rewarding, and it sets up for a pretty sick finale that ends the series in a pretty satisfying way.
As for the Hard-Boiled Mode, I completely forgot that to do that initially. So to get this video out in a good time, and considering I deleted my original game file, I decided to not include it in this video. I apologise for this - I don't know how I forgot it, but when I revisit the other two games, I'll be sure to revisit the Hard Boiled Modes for those game. What I may do is do a separate video showcasing a revisit to this Hard Boiled Mode, but I doubt I will. I recommend checking out my original video on that night if you're interested though.
Overall, this game is a nice ending to a classic series - with everyone returning for a farewell, and old and scrapped mechanics becoming repurposed once again. As for the future of this series, it feels uncertain. There has been no word about Flumpty after the creator was rightfully exposed, with many questioning as to whether it is still a Fanverse member. I honestly don't know if it still is, but we'll have to wait and see if anything else comes up. I would just recommend supporting the other Fanverse projects instead, as the lineup is pretty exciting, and I'll definitely be checking them all out when they eventually release.
