The Sword of Mirrors - Astalon: Tears of the Earth (Switch) Premiere Part 3
33I'm telling you right now, you have to try Astalon: Tears of the Earth. This game impresses me in new ways every five minutes.

Astalon: Tears of the Earth is an 8-bit style Metroidvania for the Nintendo Switch (and other platforms like PC) that I am absolutely loving. The pixel art is fantastic, the sounds and music totally knock, and I'm having an absolute blast.
The story follows three heroes. Algus, the somewhat old (?) wizard, Kyuli the rogue, and Arias the swordsman. The three heroes enter an ominous structure known as The Tower of Serpents in order to find and eliminate the source of a mysterious poison that has been plaguing their village. Not the same Algus from Final Fantasy Tactics, thankfully.
Along the way, they encounter a powerful nefarious villain named The Black Knight, who seems to serve a higher evil.
SPOILERS AHEAD
The three heroes are slain by The Black Knight, but because of a pact made by Algus with the Titan of Death, Epimetheus, they are brought back to life. Arias and Kyuli have little memory of their slaughter at the hands of the evil villain The Black Knight.
One cool and unique aspect about this game is that all three heroes have a shared HP, and when you die, Epimetheus resurrects you. But you can also spend your collected Soul Orbs to purchase upgrades and new abilities.
In this episode, Arias finds the Sword of Mirrors, which allows him to reflect most projectiles in the game (although the description doesn't clarify this). We also purchase the Orb Seeker upgrade, which is probably the most useful and practical cheap item in the game. It automatically picks up and Soul Orbs (money) or Green Orbs (life) on the screen.
At some point I also find a statue that damages me when I try to break it, but breaking it yields a roman numeral II icon near our health. Maybe it allows me to collect more Soul Orbs at the cost of taking some damage?
And I find the Void Charm which lets me warp between warp points.
Plus I get some strength increases and the Bullseye ability for Kyuli which increases her damage with each consecutive successful attack. The bonus caps at 1.5x damage, and it resets when you leave the room, but it's pretty powerful.
I also purchase the Inner Fire ability at one point, and I can't quite tell what it does. It seems to deal bonus damage while active because an additional number pops up when I hit an enemy, but it's a different color than the other numbers so idk. Some guides say it allows me to do extra damage at full HP but I am still getting those bonus numbers after taking damage so idk. It also disappeared after I died.
OH YEAH and we see Ending 1 which is the bad ending, but it unlocks a secret in the Secrets section.
