My tendency during initial playthroughs of RPGs is to identify pretty closely (though not always entirely) with the established order and fight to uphold the status quo, keep the social structures intact and minimize the disruptive and destructive effects of change. Given these small-c conservative elements of my play style I'm forced to deal with some interesting problems in this game, since the main character and anti-hero Geralt by his very nature is excluded from the mainstream of Temerian society and, as the elven rebel leader Yaevinn rightly points out, might thus see little reason to fight for people who don't really respect him. Both sides of the conflict are inherently flawed in one way or another, however, so there are no easy choices and consequences in The Witcher.
