Nintendo has officially confirmed the cast of Link and Zelda in its first live-action The Legend of Zelda film. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play the hero Link, and Bo Bragason will play Princess Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto announced on his X account.

Directed by Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) and produced by Nintendo alongside Sony, the film is set for release on May 7, 2027. With Miyamoto enthusiastically overseeing the film, the project promises an adaptation that respects both the aesthetics and the adventurous spirit of the Hyrule universe.

However, the fan community has expressed its discontent on social media, where more popular names were expected, such as Hunter Schafer, nominated in various polls and fancasts, which generated strong rejection and hashtags like #NotMyZelda and #WeWantHunter.

Despite the controversy, part of the fandom has also appreciated the physical resemblance of the actors chosen to their characters and the commitment of the production team. As filming progresses, expectations remain high, and the reactions will continue to flow until the premiere.
