Thunder Fox (Arcade) CO-OP Playthrough / It only takes a good knife to restore order in the world.
Thunder Fox (1990) by Taito is a run and gun game set in a world gripped by terror and war. Our heroes are among the few brave men who will take the restoration of order in the world on their shoulders, using budget equipment. Yes.... because they were sent on a mission with only the lower garment plus a knife. I will emphasize a very good knife , as it can even deal with tank armor :D A trite scenario, but as always it works with this type of game superbly. Thunder fox is not just another Contra clone, as its gameplay is more reminiscent of such classics as Rush'n Attack also known as Green Beret. This is due to the fact that the gameplay is focused more on close quarters combat using a powerful knife, which can handle even the most sophisticated technology. We have to admit that we approached the game as a typical Contra clone, but we got something completely different, which was a big plus. Graphically it's very decent here for the 90's. Large detailed sprites, maps filled with parallax scrolling effects, nice landscapes. The music, in truth, is a bit monotonous , as each song sounds almost similar in tone. For an action-packed game it lacks the so-called kick or, if you prefer, dynamics. As befits an arcade game, it is not without large jumps in difficulty level. When you reach the boss in the cave you can feel how fast the game has increased in difficulty. But we have to admit that when it comes to lives the game is really good. in this regard very sincere, because not only do we have a life bar to disoppose , but in addition for each credit 3 lives. This is a rare approach, and here Taito must be commended because nei were so greedy. Admittedly, the last fight is a bit cheap....when we have to pass it without using another credit. Which forced us to approach this fight 3 times. Well nothing is perfect, but somehow we swallowed this bitterness. This is one of the few arcade games that did not bore us until the very end. And believe me that with many arcade games we have this problem. Here, however, it was different. We heartily recommend it to everyone and encourage you to play it yourself.
