Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Sms) Playthrough / The first adventures of one of Sega's mascots.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World (1986) by Sega is a classic platform title for the Sega Master system, which pretty much every owner of that system was familiar with. Surprisingly, the game was originally developed as a game from the famous Dragon Ball anime series, but along the way, unfortunately, the license got outdated and the game was turned into what we have in the video. I own the original of it ....... but not completely as it is uploaded as a starter game on my Master system mark II console. If you don't put the cartridge in the console and turn it on, the game will turn on automatically. I must admit that I was very happy when I found out about this fact, because I thought that my set was not complete and the cartridge with the game was simply lost somewhere. Alex Kidd is sort of one of Sega's first mascots, who was replaced by Sonic in later years. The game is very entertaining, for one of the first games for the system. Graphically it may not be very fascinating, as the sprites are rather simple and the maps we move on are in most cases very basic. In general I am not fond of the sound chip of the master system, every soundtrack so far seems to me very basic and static in sound, the songs are very simple and straightforward. The same is true here. Gameplay-wise, what we have here is a classic platformer with variations. We can swim, move vehicles like a motorcycle or a helicopter. Along the way we collect power ups and money used to buy goodies available in stores. Power ups do not activate on their own, instead we have to enter the menu and activate them........ and here there is a problem when playing on the original console because the menu button is located on the console itself in the form of a “Pause” button. Unfortunately, the creators of the console have not thought much about the design of their pads, which consist of only two buttons. But you have to admit that they are very comfortable and quite precise. Boss fights here have been designed in a really bizarre way, because at least at the very beginning we have to defeat our opponent in a game of paper, stone and scissors. I honestly don't know if there is any system by which we can win every time, but if not then these are really random moments in which we can quickly get rid of lives, which are at a premium here. The game is definitely not easy, at least on the emulator, because Alex moves practically all the time as if he was walking on ice and accelerated at a dizzying speed. It's hard to control him then, and more than once we die. The game also has a lot of traps, which we'll have to decipher by trial and error more than once starting the game from the beginning. What does not change the fact that it is quite an interesting adventure. The game is about an evil asshole conquering a kingdom, overthrowing the old king and kidnapping the prince and princess in the process. And we, of course, as good samaritans, set out on a mission to restore order and learn about our own past. The game though is really frustrating, or at least on the emulator...... because I thought it was a bit easier to play on the real system though and Alex's controls were less wild. The game is a classic for a reason, it offers really interesting gameplay solutions, and is generally memorable. Maybe in the future I will supply myself with another version of the game, but this time in the form of the cartridge itself, and I will put it on the shelf. I definitely recommend it.
