Deathwish Enforcers (PC) CO-OP Playthrough / A nod to the classics of action cinema, full of humor.
Deathwish Enforcers Special Edition (2023) by Monster Bath Studios Inc. is a game from the run and gun genre, which with its form not far from the classic representatives of the genre like Sunset Riders, C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa as well as Mystic Warriors. These are basically games with identical mechanics and differ in truth only in minor details. But is that a bad thing? Of course not, because if something has already been adopted once, then with the right approach to the subject it can be successfully used again. And with Deathwish Enforcers definitely succeeded in achieving this goal. A great role in this success was played by the setting in which the game was realized. And these are references to various films from the 60s-80s, where such actors as Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood and Pam Grier reigned supreme. You can find references to The Shining, The Exorcist or other classic films of that era, among others. It makes an amazing impression, and each successive well-executed level provides further positive impressions. The fact is that the creators did not decide to take shortcuts and left the spicier motifs in the game, which for me is a big plus, because nowadays too many products are trying to be accessible to everyone, which is definitely not a healthy approach for the market. Any connoisseur of the classics, as he or she has already played Capcom classics, is unlikely to be surprised here. This is basically a faithful copy of those games. Gameplay-wise it's very simple, you jump, shoot in 8 directions, dodge enemy fire and collect power ups. Its plot is very simple, although surprising because some crime syndicate is trying to take over the streets of San Francisco, but this is definitely not some first rate crime syndicate ...... just pure evil!!! And it consists not only of ordinary gangsters armed to the teeth, but also undead or other supernatural forces. It strangely combines into one sensible whole, but after a while we forget about such minor details and indulge in mindless slaughter in eye-pleasing scenery, full of action. Graphically the game definitely looks like it was made for arcade machines, so we can say without a doubt that this is an immortal 2D graphic type, which is unlikely to ever get old and will always look good. Music, however, is very characteristic of the era of films on which the game was based, a mix of disco and funk. You just have to like it. We, admittedly, do not mind, but we are also not some big fans of the genre, and the music did not bother us at all. The game from beginning to end is so enjoyable and fun that we recommend it to every fan of the genre, not to mention the references to the movies of that era, will only be an bonus for more than one player.
