TinHead (Genesis/MD) Playthrough / When some a**hole decided to rearrange alignment of the stars XD
TinHead (1993) from MicroProse UK is s one of those games which biggest sin was being just average....... because no one practically talks about it. Personally, I got to know this game quite by accident when I bought a bootleg Sega Mega Drive from one person on an auction site. It came with a bootleg TinHead....... and I have to admit that I am very happy about it because I got to know a new game, which is actually really good. TinHead is one of those dynamic platformers where speed is your biggest enemy. To make progress here you need to be careful and rather learn to control the speed a bit. The main feature of TinHead is the shooting system, which is divided into three separate modes. The first is standard straight shooting, the second is diagonal shooting and the last is like shooting a slight parabola along the ground. Our bullets bounce off all surfaces, so you can use ricochets to destroy enemies. Level designs are a typical European approach to the subject, i.e. one big maze with no order and composition in which we have to find one of the stars and the exit. The game is hard, but well balanced, because there are lots of power ups everywhere, so even if you get lost there is always a chance for some tasty treats like 1UP. The graphics are very nice and well animated, and the music is really interesting. I must admit that it enters your head thanks to that typical Sega Genesis/MD sound . How surprised I was when it turned out that it was produced by MicroProse...... because before that I knew them only from impossible simulators XD I'm glad I discovered it and consider it a kind of unpolished gem . Slightly frustrating because the jump mechanics here are handled in a bizarre way, where in the middle of a jump you suddenly uncontrollably slow down ...... which leads to many unpleasant situations , but overall it's a good game.
