Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone (Arcade) CO-OP Playthrough / The culprit behind brand downfall !!
Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone (1990) by Technos Japan is probably one of the first cases of disgusting practice known nowadays as "Pay to Win". Yes ...... is one of those games. In the past, such a move was enough to destroy almost the entire legendary brand, while today it is a commonly practiced system even in games for which you have to pay close to $60. Madness..... or maybe I'm wrong who knows . But back to the game, it is not as bad as it might seem. It is repetitive and limited, but it does not belong in the gutter as it is painted. Without looking at it through the prism of "Pay to Win" There is not much innovation and I would even say that it is a step backwards in terms of gameplay. This is because, for example, in order to have all the available attack options...... we have to buy them in the store for real money :P at least on the original machine. Even after buying them there is no information on whether we have them at all and how to use them . Because of which more than once during gameplay we fell into euphoria seeing new attack animations. Moves used maybe a few times throughout the game, which I will frankly admit to being clueless as to how they are executed. Graphically it's weird here to say the least..... it's not about sprites or backgrounds here, it's about animation. The attack animations are smooth but uninspired and boring and the walking itself looks like in stop-motion. This just looks weird and spoils the whole effect from the visual side. The music is there, but it didn't make such an impression as in the earlier games in the series. The difficulty level is more balanced compared to its predecessors ..... at least until you enter the pyramid. There, all the laws of previous levels cease to apply and it's a no-holds-barred ride focused on sucking your wallet with a vacuum cleaner. Well, you can see that the creators probably did not put so much effort into the production of this part, as at least in the case of previous parts of the game. Maybe it was due to the phenomenon and success of the franchise on the global market, which simply made the creators overconfident and thought that no matter what they do it will sell anyway. The game is definitely below average but it is playable .
