There isn't a more fitting song to start this saga than the very first you hear in the game. The Title Screen theme from Colosseum is quite iconic in its own right, and for me, it sets up the entire story perfectly. It's quite heroic for most of it, setting up the grand adventure we're about to embark on, but ends with a slight tinge of darkness that hints at the darker side of Orre. Like most songs in this game, it's perfect.

Arrangement-wise, it was a nightmare. Early on I decided to fit in all the harp sections, but the first one had to be done entirely by the wave channel because the pulses were busy with other parts. The problem with the harps is that they aren't neatly "quantized", so I had to manually fix the notes so they fit the metric of the song. Even still there are a few discrepancies, but I don't think you can hear them. The song also has a few tempo changes at the end, which were a bit annoying to set up. Finally, I decided at the last minute to change the lead instrument to the wave channel, doing a flute-like sound, to give a bit more flair to the final section. Another last-minute change was making extra-long crashes at the beginning, far beyond the normal range of the GameBoy's hardware envelope so they are a bit more impactful; likewise, there's a section in the middle with a snares rising in intensity, which were also added last minute.

Thanks to everyone involved in the pokecrystal disassembly project for making this possible.
