The World Map theme was one of the first I arranged because it's particularly easy. I knew I wasn't going to have too much trouble with it, and I didn't - except I ran across a very particular problem with the wave channel that took a while to figure out. As it so happens, the bass is really a bunch of chords, and if you need to know something about what it's like to do chiptune, is that chords and 3 channels don't mix well. The real issue is that the bass starts with a certain chord and ends in another chord, but the root note is the same. However, you can clearly hear the difference in the original music, and losing that progression would make the song just sound too flat when it looped. The way I wrapped my head around this problem was just to make the bass drop one octave lower than it was supposed to be (that note IS there on the original chord, just that it's not the top note) for the end part, then jump back up one octave again for the intro. It's not too elegant, but it sounds reasonably well I think.
Thanks to everyone involved in the pokecrystal disassembly project for making this possible.
