Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (2002) - 10 - Presidential Palace [September 13th, 2002 Xbox Prototype]
Sam Fisher must now locate the Ark held by Georgian President Nikoladze, who is currently hiding in the Presidential Palace.
From this video, you can see some differences from the final:
- Bypassing the courtyard through the easy path has been blocked.
- The doors at the end of the museum are both locked and can be picked one of them.
- The room behind the door is much different than the final as it is a smaller room instead with the disposable pick inside.
- Sam needs to be further the ledge before he can split jump to pass through the lasers on the lower part of the stairs.
- The palace guards does not detect Sam easily when sneaking past the main stairs. In turn, the elite above will investigate down the knockout elite.
- Cristavi's office and the meeting room is lit brighter than the final.
- The bodies at the beginning of the second segment was positioned differently and can be picked up.
- There are no pickups on small table after the keypad locked door.
- One of Nikoladze's guards will alert Sam's presence after the elevator reaches down the library.
- There are five guards who will shoot down Sam instead of four in the final.
- Sam does not raise his hands as Cristavi's men did not told him to do so in this version.
- When leaving the basement, Sam and Lambert's dialogue is much longer than the final. This was brought into the PS2/GC version.
- The bodies in the library disappears in this version while they remain instead in the final.
- There is a wall mine placed near the breached doors outside the library.
- Nikoladze sits a bit further from the window.
- There is no F2000 ammo lying in Sam's sniping position.
- There is no cupboard near the exit at the dining hall. This is because the sneaky path was removed in this version.
- At the entrance, there are three guards standing by on the left side of the stairs. Leaving one guard standing by on the right. They are not standing by however.
- The door leading to the courtyard is open. Rather than being extracted through a cutscene, players will have to guide Sam to the Osprey themselves. The Osprey is not entirely solid other than the platform, so palace guards can still shoot Sam inside.
- No ending is shown here in this version as the file is not available. The game instead takes you to the credits. And also you can skip these cutscenes in this version.
This prototype was played through Xemu, so visual and performance issues do occur here. Played for documentation even though trying to be stealthy.
