Let's face it, board games are about winning! Fine... they're about having fun. That said, Many games use Victory Points (or money, etc.) to both win and "buy" new things in-game, forcing a balance between keeping and purchasing. These are my favorites that do this - enjoy!

Victory Points (VPs) come in many forms in games - literal points, money, land ownership, all sorts of stuff. Some games will take these same things and use them as the currency you use to buy/upgrade certain aspects of your game, as well, though. This forces the players to balance holding onto point to try and win while spending enough to stay ahead. It can be a very difficult balance to strike, but it's a lot of fun, and here are my favorites!

As always, let me know what you all think! How do you feel about games that do this? Does it work/make sense for the game or genre? What are your own favorites? Let me know in the comments!
