Trials of Mana | Boss: Xan Bie, Benevodon of Fire (Extreme mode)
0XAN BIE'S STRATEGY:
- Fire Balls: You don't really see this "move", but it should be noted Xan Bie can summon fire balls to rotate around him. These will come and go throughout the fight. Honestly, don't worry about them. It's a nuisance at best. Keep charging and damaging Xan Bie no matter what.
- Blaze Wall: You've seen this move before. This fire magic move is a small circular damage marker that has flames shooting up after a short while. You know the drill: dodge out of the way to avoid damage.
- Strengthen: You will only see this move later on in the fight (when Xan Bie is halfway dead or so). This move ups Xan Bie's strength/attack and can definitely be dangerous.
- Explode +: This is another fire spell you've seen before. This one is a large area-of-effect that after several seconds will just explode, dealing moderate damage to anyone in the area.
- Flame Saber: Now this move is tricky. Xan Bie can cast Flame Saber on someone, which will actually heal him if you hit him with it. Be ready to cast Frost Saber on whoever gets this spell to turn the tides.
- Lava Wave: This move is another fire magic spell. This spell resembles "Explode" (maybe slightly less big), but will leave a patch of lava after it is done. The lava goes away fairly fast, but still... watch your footing when you see this spell coming!
- Fire Ball +: Another fire spell you've seen before. This is a straight-up fireball being flung at you. You've seen this one before and should be ready to dodge out of the way.
- Heat Beam: This is probably Xan Bie's most adaptive move. Heat Beam is just... a narrow beam of fire. Fairly easy to dodge. However, as the fight goes on, Xan Bie can make this a 3-way beam, similar to the shuriken attacks you've seen before. This makes it much more dangerous, particularly to your AI Companions. When Xan Bie is in his cyclone mode, he can use this move and make the fire beams rotate around, which actually makes you need to jump over the fire beams as they rotate. Just wow... what a move.
- Gigantaburn: This is definitely Xan Bie's biggest attack. When you see it coming, you need to immediately stop and go destroy the furnaces around the area. They too are weak to Ice Saber and Ice Spells, so put that on to help. Destroy them all to stun Xan Bie and pour on the damage. If you fail to do this, you will take some exploding fire damage, although not enough to wipe your team out (a group heal can put you back in the fight easily enough).
