Sorry, a very long video. Thought I'd try out my TS100 soldering iron as it's been a bit neglected.

It runs an open source firmware called IronOS. It's pretty easy to update: simply plug a Micro USB cable into the iron and hold a button down when you plug it into your computer. It'll mount as a USB drive ... drag the relevant HEX file across ... and you're done. The developers no longer recommend the TS100 due to some dodginess, but I've never run into any issues.

It uses a 2.5mm plug for power (I believe) and requires between 12 & 24V. I made up a cable to connect it to my bench supply, current-limited to 3A.

Initial warming up kept tripping some relay inside my bench supply, but the iron got there in the end.

Thought I'd make a start on building the SD interface for the Электроника МС 0511 (Elektronika MS 0511) using the iron.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a handy BOM for the card, but I figured some parts out from the XML files. I don't have many surface mount parts so I'll need to order them.
