Work in Progress: Getting an 8" Floppy Drive
I've been wanting to join the kewl kids klub on YouTube and also get an 8" floppy drive. Soon.
I do have first-hand experience with an 8" floppy drive in actual use - in the late 80s I did high school work experience with IBM in Brisbane. One of the call-out jobs I followed along on involved fixing an IBM cheque-sorting machine which used an 8" floppy drive. I vaguely remember the guy telling me that we would try rebooting it from the floppy drive to see if that helped ... I also vaguely remember ATMs that were running on OS/2. Anyway ...
I managed to get an unopened box of Aussie-made Verbatim disks locally, and just received a 34-pin-to-50-pin converter board.
The Verbatim disks are double-sided (DS), single-density (SD).
I've also got some Soviet-era Bulgarian-made 8" floppies (EC5274) on their way from Ukraine ... hopefully.
Then I just need to get an appropriate drive ...
