Turning off cellular data for iCloud Photo Library on iPhone is an effective way to reduce mobile data usage, especially if you take a lot of photos and videos. By default, iCloud Photos can use cellular data to upload or download content when Wi-Fi is not available, which may result in unexpected data consumption. Disabling this ensures that syncing only happens when your device is connected to Wi-Fi.
To start, open the Settings app on your iPhone. Scroll down and look for the Photos app in the list of installed apps. Tap on it to access photo-related settings. Within the Photos settings, you may see a toggle labeled Cellular Data. If it's turned on, tap the toggle to turn it off. This stops iCloud Photos from using your mobile data to upload or download media.
In some cases, you may also find an additional option inside the Cellular Data menu under Photos labeled Unlimited Updates. Turning this off provides even more control by preventing high-volume uploads when you're on cellular networks.
If you don't see a direct toggle for cellular data within the Photos settings, you can still prevent updates by disabling iCloud Photos entirely. This is done by switching off the toggle labeled iCloud Photos. However, be aware that turning this off stops all syncing between your device and iCloud for photos and videos.
Once you've disabled the correct option, your iPhone will only sync iCloud Photos when connected to a Wi-Fi network, helping you avoid data overages and maintain better control over bandwidth.
