Part 5 - RaptorTest, another very interesting map

I found this map in TurokGame\Baked folder. In order to be able to load maps from this folder in the game, I copied the whole Baked folder to TurokGame\Content\Maps folder. Then I had to delete all .u files from there, because otherwise the game refused to start. I tried to load some maps, most of them either crashed the game, freezed it or had nothing but a black screen. This map is an exception.

This map takes one minute to load, so I cut the loading from the video. Apparently this small map is an early prototype of the jungle.

Turok 2008 is a great game with very stunning and exciting cutscenes. The player takes part in the war which occurs on a planet populated with dinosaurs. While it's a first person shooter, Turok features a lot of third person moments, creating an original and unique gameplay experience. It uses Unreal Engine 3, and I wish it had the UnrealEd included with the game.

This is the ending of our exciting journey, unless I accidentally stumble upon something worth showing that I missed, of course. If there was an Unreal Editor, I would be able to explore the packages in search for unused content. Then I would probably find some more unused content and build a small map to demonstrate it, like I did with Saw Game. Turok even has a working console - you see, I loaded these maps like user-made Gears of War addons. But the most important thing, Unreal Editor, refuses to load, the game just shows some "filename not found" error and quits :(

But what is the difference between this game and UE3 games where the Editor works? Maybe it's possible to remove the thing that prevents the editor from launching? If you can suggest something which might help, I'll be glad to hear it. Maybe there is some program which can monitor the game in memory and show what file it looks for?

Thankfully, there is another method to access the beta / unused content of the game. I found a viewer which can read its packages. Here it is: http://www.gildor.org/en/projects/umodel
