Ubuntu 15.04 VS Windows 10 Pro : Company Of Heroes 2 Benchmark on an AMD R9 390
68This video's focus for the benchmark and review are solely on the performance of AMD's driver with the native versions of Company of Heroes 2 on Ubuntu and Windows.
I am using the latest stable AMD drivers.
Windows 10 Pro with Catalyst 15.7.1
Ubuntu 15.04 with RadeonSI Mesa 11.1
(LLVM 3.6 with Kernel 3.19 for those who need this info)

The graphical settings options are identical on the Windows version and the Linux version, so each test was reproducible on each system exactly.
On Ubuntu, the CPU governor is set to Performance. For Windows, it is set to High Performance.
Minimum settings here means everything that can be turned OFF or set to LOW was set to OFF or LOW.
Maximum settings means cranking everything ON and to the Highest setting possible, with the exception of V-Sync which was kept off.
I used Steam's framerate OSD to keep things between systems as similar as possible.
Interesting enough, apparently AMD's drivers don't offer what's required for COH2 when it comes to the Physics section as I'm unable to turn that setting to maximum.
My verdict: Although Feral's official stance on AMD support is that it isn't the recommended specs, Company Of Heroes 2 is still playable and seems pretty stable. You will need RadeonSI though, as it seems Catalyst has a serious issue making the experience unplayable with such low framerates.
If you're a fan of Relic RTSs, or just RTSs in general, this is worth a purchase. I seriously love the mechanics of Relic RTSs, as DOW2 is still my all-time favourite RTS to play! Thus, COH2 is a great buy.
I may have made mistakes, and if I have done so, please forgive me and correct me in the comments. I've tried to do this benchmark and review to the best of my knowledge and capabilities.
