This video's focus for the benchmark and review are solely on the performance of AMD's driver with the native versions of Counter Strike Global Offensive on Ubuntu and Windows.

fps_max was set to 1000 and V-Sync disabled so that no artificial limit was put on the frames that could be achieved per second.

Timeline:
1. Intro 0:00
2. Benchmark Results 1:18
3. Side-by-side comparison (Max settings) 2:06
3. Summary 3:10

The following AMD drivers were used:
Windows 10 Pro with Catalyst 15.7.1
Ubuntu 15.04 with Catalyst 15.9

The graphical settings options are identical on the Windows version and the Linux version, so each test was reproducible on each system exactly.

Steams overlay was used as the OSD (frame counters). I recorded my screen using my Canon SX50HS Powershot camera, so that performance would not be affected.

On both systems, I am running CSGO in it's 32bit version. OpenGL 3 is being utilized on Ubuntu, whilst Direct3D 9 is being used on Windows. These are the defaults for CSGO on each platform.

All hardware on this computer is the same. The game is being run from a 1TB Western Digital Green Caviar HDD on both systems, so no hardware discrepancy should exist.

On Ubuntu, the CPU governor is set to Performance. For Windows, Power Settings is set to High Performance.

Minimum settings here means everything that can be turned OFF or set to LOW was set to OFF or LOW.

Maximum settings means cranking everything ON and to the Highest setting possible, with the exception of V-Sync which was kept off.

My verdict: The AMD performance has improved for us Linux gamers, at least in respect to CSGO. It's still not competitive yet with what AMD offers Windows users. I hope AMD start focusing on performance sooner rather than later for us Linux gamers.

I may have made mistakes, and if I have done so, please forgive me and correct me in the comments. I've tried to do this benchmark and review to the best of my knowledge and capabilities.
