This video comprises mainly of a demo of Ultimate Doom's E3M5 'Unholy Cathedral' in which all monsters, items and secrets are scored from a pistol start, without any damage taken whatsoever. Also included is a clip from a successful demo I made in 2019 and two outtakes from 2021, one of which showcases an unfortunate 'soft-locking' bug. Live commentary is included for the main 2021 demo and one of the outtakes.

Although I had succeeded at this No Damage Completion challenge in 2019, that was before I was making videos so my route was a little more pedestrian. In particular, I had not understood that you can grab the BFG from the teleportation trap near the exit and get out safely, saving up the 24 enemies that teleport in for later. Having the most powerful weapon makes killing the barons more fun, without creating additional risk.
In 2021 I succeeded in 9 attempts, but was cruelly denied a 1st attempt success by a 'soft-lock' bug in which two demons can effectively block each other from teleporting in to the trap near the exit, and the pinkies remain in that pattern, as far as I can tell, forever.
The confusing teleporters make this level one of my least favourite in the original Doom/Doom 2 maps --- share your views in the comments though, I'd like anyone who loves this Unholy Mess to try to win me over!
