Welcome to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3! Hopefully, the name stays true and there isn't another retail release everyone would need to get, thus meaning this version is merely a Penultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

I never got the original Marvel vs. Capcom 3, so when I do play this, it's all going to be new to me. I watched matches of the original one though. I do actually have a reason for skipping that: I noticed it get released after Super Street Fighter 4 getting updated versions, and I figured that this game would be getting an updated re-release. Lo and behold, turns out I was right.

Right now, I don't feel like I'm ready to play online just yet, so here are some spectator matches. I'm not really too certain what's going on, but I'll learn over the following few weeks. Months. Okay, years.

Here, you'll get to watch an acquaintance of mine, who goes by Falco18. You may remember him in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and in Mario Kart Wii. He goes by Lombardi88 here. His main adversary is RIFTER5, who's been tearing up the other players...apparently when I'm not watching.

I'll give a proper explanation for each character later, once I actually get into this game. And remember to turn on the Kate Higgins announcer.

Match #1
Lombardi88: Tron, Chun-Li, and Arthur
vs.
RIFTER5: Chris, Deadpool, and Sentinel
You'll see that RIFTER5 brings quite the rough introduction into this match. While Tron Bonne gets the early lead, RIFTER5 really specializes in Deadpool, who more than compensated. I do like how Arthur's fireballs neutralized Sentinel's missiles, then Chris's grenades to strike him directly though. (By the way, Chris Redfield is voiced by Roger Craig Smith, the same guy who currently voices Sonic the Hedgehog.)

Match #2
RIFTER5: Hawkeye, Deadpool, and Sentinel
vs.
Its OK: Vergil, Wesker, and Sentinel
And then RIFTER5 meets his superior in Its OK. Then again, these three characters Its OK have received reputations for being annoying to deal with. In any case, this match ended in a hurry. Vergil is a character all who play this game should be prepared to deal with, I guess.

Match #3
RIFTER5: Chris, Deadpool, and Hawkeye
vs.
Lombardi88: Tron, Chun-Li, and Arthur
Here is a rematch from the folks from the first match in this video. This time, Tron gets out to an even better start than before, and it looks like she needs it to keep the edge. RIFTER5 apparently swapped out Sentinel with Hawkeye, who turned out to be the weak link here.

Match #4
Lombardi88: Tron, Chun-Li, and Arthur
vs.
RIFTER5: X-23, Deadpool, and Sentinel
...And so Sentinel returns for this match, but Chris has been replaced with X-23. Is she the new weak link of this trio? You decide. (I would've thought her quick nimbleness would put her at an advantage against Tron's big bulky robot.)
