Boss Battle
Classic
Death Egg Robot

After Classic and Modern head up to the upper reaches of Sky Sanctuary, they're able to leap to the Death Egg, where Dr. Eggman's robot that ends Sonic 2 lies. Since this is set in the Classic era, it's Classic Eggman piloting the giant robot--after all, it is modeled after himself. (Yes, Sky Sanctuary is set after Sonic fights the Death Egg Robot, but I have reason to believe this is not the same model. I'll explain down below after the SPOILER warning.)

The Death Egg Robot takes 4 hits: 2 to the butt and 2 to the noggin. The battle begins on a rising platform on the Death Egg. Eggman will launch the robot's arms at Sonic, then try to stomp on him. You need to run under the robot and strike at the black area behind it. Once you do this twice, the platform will reach a large viewing area. Eggman will try to jump on Sonic again, but this time, if he misses, Sonic gets knocked back to another set of platforms, where the next part of the battle would take place.

Eggman will now stay in one place and stick to launching the extendable arms at Sonic. What Sonic needs to do is push a button to cause a bomb to appear and cause Eggman to launch the arm at a bomb, which shorts out the robot for a brief moment. Sonic jumps onto the hand, runs up the arm, and bonks the robot's head. Sonic has to do this once more to destroy the robot.

Classic Eggman controls the Time Eater. It is most definitely possible that he built another Death Egg Robot for Classic Sonic to take down. He purposely loses to get "kidnapped" by the Time Eater and create an alibi. This would explain why this machine is oddly easy to defeat and why Eggman keeps saying, "Not bad!"
