Undertale (Pt 9): Neo, Following Suspicious Advice, Finds Himself on the Path to a Different Ending
[MOSTLY BLIND LET'S PLAY] - SPOILERS IN THE DESCRIPTION! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!
After seeing the first ending of Undertale, Neo finds himself being given advice by Flowey to try to be better friends with Dr. Alphys in order to try and get a better ending than the one he already got. Naturally, Neosekken is HIGHLY suspicious of this advice, especially considering who its coming from, but with no other leads to guide him in a different direction that could lead to a better ending Neo reluctantly decides to follow Flowey's advice and tries going to Dr. Alphys' lab. On the way to the lab, however, Neo gets a call from Undyne to come to Snowdin, and upon arriving there he finds himself playing courier for Undyne, who gives him a letter to deliver to the doctor - one that she STRONGLY advises Neo to not read. Neo, thinking that delivering this letter is the first step he needs to take to better befriend Dr. Alphys, takes the letter to her lab, and manages to successfully deliver it to her face-to-face.
But Dr. Alphys misinterprets the letter being from NEO instead of Undyne, since Undyne wrote the letter anonymously, and before he knows it he finds himself going on a date with Dr. Alphys in a garbage dumb (not making this up). During this date, Neo manages to get Dr. Alphys to reveal her true feelings about Undyne to him, and attempts to help her prepare for a confession by roleplaying as Undyne for her... only for Undyne, who happened to be nearby, to hear everything that Dr. Alphys' says and turn the situation into something VERY awkward. Then Neo witnesses them hook up and start training, which Dr. Alphys thanks Neo for. Not sure what else to do after this, Neo decides to go to Dr. Alphys' lab again to see if she was there.
Upon arriving there, Neo discovers a troubling note on the floor of the lab, and following Dr. Alphys down an elevator in her lab he hadn't seen before, Neo finds himself entering a location called the "True Lab"... where Neo finds a host of abominations waiting for him in various corners, along with lots of journal entries on the walls and other items that start revealing a LOT of vital information about the game's plot to Neo, ESPECIALLY in regards to Flowey and what his true identity may be...
Eventually Neo manages to make it through the entirety of the True Lab, and locates Dr. Alphys, who promises Neo that she'll take the revived monsters she's created back to the surface and face whatever consequences are awaiting her for her role in their creation, and the suffering she's brought to various families throughout the Underground. Neo makes his way back to the surface, but on his way up he receives an ominous phone call from an unknown individual (whom Neo suspected to be Flowey), thanking Neo for "putting everything in place" for him, before abruptly hanging up. Neo then finds himself at the capital, and the way back is blocked by vines.
Deciding to continue on instead of saving whatever he's set in motion for the next episode, Neo makes it to Asgore's throne room, where a different confrontation eventually occurs when Toriel unexpectedly shows up, along with all the friends Neo has made on his journey. Wondering what everyone was doing there, Papyrus eventually reveals something that immediately fills Neo will a sense of dread: that he had everyone gathered at the throne room thanks to the advice and help of a talking flower. It is then that Neo finds himself ensnared in Flowey's latest trap, and before he knows it Neo not only has his suspicions on Flowey's true identity confirmed... he finds himself entering another confrontation with the deranged being, this time much more powerful than in his last fight with Neo...
