V-Rally 2 - Expert Edition / Need For Speed: V-Rally 2 (2000) - Every PC Rally Game
0V-Rally 2 - Expert Edition by Eden Studios / Infogrames, 2000.
This game was released as Need For Speed: V-Rally 2 in the USA, but it's still the same game. A lightweight, arcade, relatively fun (and fast) rally game, with a wide range of locations and cars.
A couple of notes about this one: on modern PCs, the soundtrack (excellent, but repetitive, as only 3 tracks) plays at maximum volume, so you can't hear the engine or co-driver. In these clips I ejected the CD, to stop it playing! The cars all sound the same though...
The majority of the clips were captured at the highest option the game setup allows (1600x1200), except for the in-car cockpit clips, which were captured at 800x600. If you play in-car (or bonnet-cam) above 800x600 then parts of the car/the top of the cockpit and steering wheel start clipping and disappearing (making it feel like you're driving a convertible!).
You can, however, run the game at low-resolution, then use dgVoodoo2 to upscale it to much higher resolutions, but I wanted to run it how it was out-of-the-box.
Also, the in-car raining shot is a bit disappointing, as the windscreen effect in the game means you can't see the rain drops at all! Some of the clips look a touch jerky, but in the game they're actually butter smooth!
Oh yes, and thanks to Ben/benefit, who uploaded the 100% complete save game that I used to access all of the cars quickly!
