Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire (via Capcom Fighting Collection) playthrough Part 1
It's been about a year since I got my fight stick, and started doing the fighting games. Which I started with the first Darkstalkers. Here we're playing 3. And... it's not going well so far. Moves just don't want to pull off properly. And I really, REALLY hate that. I'm fine failing because the moves I am using don't work right. Like I was with Anakaris. I tried to turtle against Jedah, and it just didn't work. Annoying, a little frustrating, but it was my tactic that wasn't working. However, when I switched tactics, and went to trying to use jump attacks... and then Anakaris wouldn't freaking jump, and instead just went into a hovering state on the spot, THAT started to really anger me. That was the game not doing what I wanted it to do, and thus losing for that. Things didn't get much better with later characters.
Demitri: The first character I chose. Not bad, fairly Akuma-like. Though I don't think his moves are quite as nice. No major issues playing with him, nothing that stood out either. His moves weren't quite good enough for me to want to main him. His uppercut lacking the forward movement that Ken's has really sets him back.
Victor: Charge moves feel very out of place in this hyper aggressive game. But this character felt the most like Blanka, my main in SF2, to me. So I decided to just go in aggressive, utilizing the range and power of his attacks. And it worked wonderfully. I do like this char, but again I wouldn't want to main him I don't think.
Anakaris: I already described the biggest issue with him above. But overall he just moves too slowly in this game to be aggressive, and his turtle strategy is almost too effective. Against most characters, anyway. Not fun to play as at all.
Felicia: I like her. But oh god, did I struggle with her. She just doesn't do enough damage. She's fast, but I could wail on the enemy for a while, get hit a few times, and be at a loss in HP. It felt like I had to work twice as hard with her for any fight, and that feels unfair.
B. B. Hood: I strongly dislike this character. Not just the play style, but the entirely theming of her. Never liked her in MvC2, and I'm not enjoying her here. She was also the one that tilted me the most with her super move just NOT wanting to pull off properly. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
