Vlogging on a GoPro Hero9 Black with Media Mod and RODE VideoMicro External Microphone
This is the first of many videos where I'll be pairing up the combination of the GoPro Hero9 Black with its Media Mod and using them both with various external microphones, specifically to find the best GoPro Hero9 Black vlogging setup. Which at this point in time should be the best GoPro vlogging setup full stop, with the Hero9 being the latest GoPro and should be current until at least September 2022, when we should expect to see the GoPro Hero10 Black and the whole cycle will start again.
Maybe next year GoPro will change the naming scheme and go for GoPro HeroX Black, which really hope the don't.
For this video I'm paring the Hero9 and Media Mod with the fantastic RODE VideoMicro, which is my favourite vlogging mic of them all.
So with the primary function of these types of microphone examples with the Hero9 Black being for vlogging, I will also record most of these examples and vlogs with the Hero9 set to mostly automatic.
This will mean using GoPro color, setting the Hero9 iso to between 100 and 1600, having the 9's white balance set to auto and it's shutter also to auto. Basically as close to out of box as possible. The reason for this is to so that the results are easily reproducible for the vast majority of people who will use their GoPro in automatic mode.
The only real changes to these basic settings when doing these videos is to set the resolution to 5K, change the frame rate and change the FOV to linear.
In other videos I will also be using the GoPro Hero9 in manual exposure mode with GoPro flat, to see what are the best settings for the GoPro Hero9 Black for picture.
