Vs. Super Mario Bros. (Arcade) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Nintendo's 1986 arcade game, Vs. Super Mario Bros.
Vs. Super Mario Bros was a "refresh" of the original Super Mario Bros. NES game. It was intended to provide a familiar yet new challenge to fans of the console game in a bid for their quarters.
This arcade version, running on the Famicom-based Nintendo Vs. System platform, showed up before Super Mario Bros. 2 ("The Lost Levels") was released for the Famicom Disk System, so while SMB2 and Vs. SMB share gameplay mechanics and several stage designs, much of SMB 2's content was original to the Vs. game. The Famicom sequel merely incorporated parts of this game with its own new original content.
As you can probably imagine, Vs. Super Mario Bros. is quite a different game from either of its direct console-based relatives. It's a bit of a chimera, and it's far harder than the original game ever was. Enemy placements have been changed to make tricky jumps all-the-more punishing, mushrooms and 1-ups are in somewhat scarce supply, and warp zones will only bring you as far as World 6.
I really, really like this version of the game, and I remember my excitement for it being instantly rekindled when it was brought to the Switch. If you're a fan of classic Mario, this fun semi-remix promises a great time, even if it does make you swear more that you usually would.

(I uploaded a playthrough of this game back in 2013, but since it was a 480p30 encode, it badly needed updating. This is a brand new playthrough to replace it, now in HD at 60fps!)
