War Thunder: Air Combat and Basic Dog fighting Techniques

Angles of attack are very important in air combat, because your aircraft is limited by physical laws, like the laws of gravity, inertia, and momentum. The best way to engage an enemy aircraft is to pick the best position to attack your enemy.
Maneuvering is very important, and a large part of it has to do with your aircraft's flight characteristics. Some aircraft have a very good turn radius while others do not. The aircraft I used was a Bf-109-F4 with 3 20mm cannons and 2 7.92mm machine guns. It isn't the most maneuverable aircraft; however, I still get the most out of your aircraft by decreasing the throttle, and using the combat flaps.
When maneuvering, you are trying to get behind the enemy and stay behind him. To do this, you must increase and decrease your throttle, use combat flaps or raise them. When your behind an enemy, try to get the enemy to bleed off some speed by making him turn. First a few rounds at him if he is far away and this might make him turn. Faster aircraft like P-51s, and P-63s don't have a very good turn radius, but they are fast. If you get into a dogfight with one of these, you could make them bleed off some speed by getting them into a dogfight. When they bleed off enough speed, they will not be able to escape easily. Why? Because it takes time to accelerate and get their speed back. If they try to travel in a straight line to get their speed back, it will make them easy targets.
It is always easiest to attack a target that is taking off, landing, or in front of your gun sights at the right time. Just like water, it follows in the point of least resistance. Selecting targets of opportunity is the best way to exploit an enemy's weakness.
